AAR DELTA KILO6-1

AFTER ACTION REPORT

DELTA, KILO6-1

TEAM LEAD: Broumand, Alex, SGT

DATE: 19MAR05

IRENE:

Delta Kilo 61, my squad, was tasked with taking down the target house building #15. We were depoyed by vehicle on Walker St as was  Kilo 6 to our right and Kilo 62 to our left with the target house to the North. I split my eight man squad into two four man teams to hit both front and back door at the same time. Our trigger point was Kilo 6 moving to the North- East corner of the house as Kilo 62 flanked left to the North-West.

The take down was fast! less than 14 seconds with only two Delta operators wounded. The bad guys lost at least six, and the target was captured, zip-tied and led to the garage for exfil. At this time Blackburn missed the rope and was placed on a stretcher and brought to us to defend until the convoy arrived. It got a little too hot in building #15's garage and we moved to the adjacent building #16 to the East.

Upon the arrival of the convoy the prisoner and the wounded Blackburn were exfilled and that is when the first Blackhawk was hit.

SUPER64 DOWN:

Initially Kilo 61 was to join the convoy back to base. When Wolcott's bird went down we exited the vehicles and made our way to the crash site on foot located between buildings #9 and #8 and secured it. The battle raged but we never were pushed off the crash site.

The convoy was having trouble making it to the crash site and Kilo 6 our command element requested we secure the intersection of Pendelton and Hayes Circle. We secured the intersection and held until the convoy passed.

Kilo 61 was then requested to go back to the crash site and secure it. There was much confusion. the skinnys were pushing up from the South-West and Kilo 61 became engaged in a fierce firefight in the Bacarra Market at building #17. After great sacrifice and VERY intense fighting we secured the market/buliding and the scenario was ended.

EVAC:

Durant's bird went down and two Delta snipers were trying to hold off the skinnys. Kilo 61 was to provide rear security for all of Delta who was leading the column to the crash site. Right away the column was stopped because Delta 6 and 62 could not push through. Kilo 61 was asked to flank the enemy between the houses located between Pendleton and Walker to try to break down the enemy's defense. The battle raged, very slow going but none the less we were making headway.

Kilo 6 came up on the radio and told Kilo 61 to grab any Delta we could get our hands on and make it to the crash site to rescue the two Delta operators and the downed pilot. We soon learned that they were either dead or missing, and our orders changed to destroying the bird.

The second crash site was at the South-East corner of building #27. My force made it as far as building #25 and the wooded area to the South-West. Over and over we tried to assault building #26 and could not take it. Once word reached us that we had tied down the skinnys long enough for Kilo 62 to break through and destroy the bird we asked for ordes.

Kilo 6 requested us back to the column which as luck would have it was right outside building #25 on Walker St. We joined the push West along Walker that turned into a route. Rangers supported by armor were blasting the skinnys from buildings with ease. Kilo 61 ended the game finally breaking through the defense of building #26. This was room to room pistols only, against a well dug in enemy.

As a side note, I would like to thank all of Delta Kilo 61 for their outstanding performance in this operation. Let it be noted for the record that my assistant sqaudleader AAron E. operated in a superb maner, I am grateful for his assistance and he has my utmost respect.
